Looking for a terrific way to start your weekend? The Dexter Wellness Coalition is putting on a second season of Yoga in the Park this summer! This is a FREE outdoor yoga class in downtown Dexter every Saturday morning through June, July, and August. All ages and ability levels are welcome!
Meet in the grassy area on the south side of Mill Creek Park by 8AM any Saturday during June, July, or August. A certified instructor from the Dexter Wellness Center will meet you there and lead you through an invigorating 60 minutes of yoga along the peaceful banks of Mill Creek, accompanied by lots of fresh air, the sounds of birds, and (hopefully!) plenty of morning sunshine. You don’t need to register in advance—just bring your yoga mat and a beach towel. A water bottle is a good idea too.
“Students love the morning sun, and can use their shadows as a guide to help inform their postures,” says Janine Bennett, one of the many instructors who help lead the event. “It’s such great group energy with students practicing at all levels.”
Parking is available on the eastern border of the park (south of the BP gas station). Or, use the parking lot behind the fire/police station and take a short stroll southward under the Main Street bridge. Many folks are also known to bike or walk to the class each week!
