Kirk is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University where he studied for both his Bachelor’s and Master’s in Exercise Science, Management, and Exercise Physiology. He is certified as a Clinical Exercise Specialist through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). He works in the wellness industry for the opportunity to positively impact peoples’ health, wellness and overall quality of life by empowering members with knowledge and independence. When not at the DWC, Kirk enjoys running, swimming, biking, yoga, plays recreational sports such as basketball, volleyball, discussing U of M football and spends time with his family and friends.
Cheri is a Dexter native and graduated from Dexter High School. Cheri is the Fitness Coordinator who holds a BA in Physical Education from the University of Michigan and a Masters in Education from the University of Toledo. Her specialty is running and wellness. She recently was the Wellness Coordinator for Dexter Community Schools. She ran in college for the University of Michigan, where she earned All Big Ten athletic and academic honors. She continued running as a professional elite athlete, racing in national and international road races and marathons. In 1992 she competed in the U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials held in Houston. She still holds local course records. Cheri is currently the head coach of the Dexter High School womenʼs cross country team and assistant coach for track and field. She also coaches marathon running for the USATF Running Institute womenʼs team. Cheri believes in balanced training, and her experiences reflect that in her coaching. She enjoys her family, lake activities, running and cooking.
Nicole is a graduate of Dexter High School. She attended Western Michigan University where she received her B.S. in Exercise Science. Nicole is currently working towards becoming a certified personal trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine. She has always had a passion for fitness and well-being. She believes that fitness is a key role in maintaining a healthy and long life. Nicole likes to spread her knowledge in hopes that it will improve one’s life. Outside of the center, Nicole enjoys being outdoors, running, biking, and being with friends and family.
Evan comes to the Dexter wellness center with nearly 10 years of experience in the area of strength and conditioning and skill sport development. He is an ACSM Certified Personal Trainer and ACE Certified Sports Conditioning Specialist. With his degree in Fitness and Health from Durham College and both collegiate and professional career as a basketball player for multiple seasons, he was named league MVP in Australia and led the league in scoring multiple times. Evans passion for training and making athletes function to their peek performance levels has taken him to opportunities in assisting with the speed, conditioning and agility training for numerous Olympic and professional athletes. His special focus on treatment and injury prevention aids in the success of his athletes. Evan worked with Detroit Pistons as an assistant strength and conditioning coach focusing on skill development, body development and nutrition. His passion for fitness comes from the dream that lives inside every one of us to better ourselves every day. Evan is a great mentor, role model, and coach to help inspire athletes and everyday people to train hard and have fun while achieving their goals.
Eric is a graduate of Michigan State University where he obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology. He is currently working towards becoming a Certified Exercise Physiologist through the American College of Sports Medicine. Eric has always been intrigued with the human body and how exercise can improve a person's body and mind. Outside of DWC, Eric likes to golf, play hockey, hike, and cheer on the Detroit Tigers and Red Wings.
Terry McNeely is the Medical Integration Fitness Coordinator at Dexter Wellness where she oversees all of the components of our Next Steps Program. Terry has a diverse background in the fitness industry and holds several fitness related specialty certifications. She possesses a Master's Degree in Exercise Science/Corporate Health Programming and Research and a Bachelor's Degree in Fire Science. As a former paramedic and Lieutenant in the fire service, she obtained a fitness certification that is specifically designed for the emergency services industry. She is adept at creating and providing tactical fitness programs for fire, EMS, and law enforcement professionals. Assessments that identify kinetic chain imbalances allow her to develop programs that help prevent injuries by improving balance, posture, and flexibility while increasing endurance and cardiovascular ability. Terry has studied yoga under TKV Desikachar and provides training in many types of yoga inclusive of aerial yoga techniques. Her Pilates training began with one of the first certifications offered known as the Method Alliance. She has worked with dancers to help alleviate a variety of back and hip imbalances. Terry is also an instructor for Schoolcraft College's Personal Trainer credit/certification program. Terry still maintains her Paramedic and EMS Instructor licenses.
Carrie is a graduate of Grand Valley State University with a B.S. in Clinical Exercise Science. She would like to continue her education to become a physical therapist. In the meantime, she has earned her ACSM credentials as a Certified Exercise Physiologist. Carrie truly believes that exercise is medicine and can help people feel healthy, strong, and happy. When she's not working, she loves to read, volunteer, and workout.
